Udi was a curious boy and wanted to know everything and anything.
Udi in his childhood was in the sea and in the fields many hours. In these hours he investigating and divulging insects, flowers and birds. He and his family were exited about the sea and the fields with a guide key to learn about everything. He was also interested in cars and at age three he identified every car on the street.
When Udi grew up he read anything and everything. He was also interested in aeromodelling and photography. He played piano from memory, and he taught himself how to play guitar.
When Udi was 13 years old, his family moved to South Africa and Udi didn't want to live there and he went back to Israel and lived in his uncle's house.
Udi increased his photography skill and searched for special moments in his work.
He also studied for a diver's certificate and a cruising yacht certificate
He learned at the Technion University and received a degree of engineering of the environment.
Udi had a lot of friends and he had time for every one of them and for all his hobbies.
Udi married with Karnit, his girlfriend for last nine years, on October 14th, 2005.
That was the last time his family saw him because after the wedding his family went back to South Africa.
On July 12th, 2006, Udi went on a normal patrol in his military service. The enemy attacked their patrol and three of Udi's friends were killed, Tomer was wounded and Udi and Eldad Regeb were kidnapped to Lebanon by the Hezbollah.
Two years after that Udi and Eldad were brought to Israel, but unfortunately they were dead.
Remember and do not forget our soldiers, Udi we will never forget.
In July, 2006, Udi Goldwasser and Eldad Regev were captured by the Hezbollah Organization after their army patrol jeep was attacked. They were in the military patrolling on the northern border. The Hezbollah shot many missiles into the north of Israel as a diversion and were able to capture Udi and Eldad. This was the trigger that led to the second war in Lebanon.
On July 16th, 2008 Udi Goldwasser and Eldad Regev were returned to Israel after the Israeli government signed an agreement to exchange four (4) prisoners and 199 bodies with the Hezbollah Organization. The Hezbollah returned the coffins of our loving soldiers Udi and Eldad. Udi and Eldad were probably killed much earlier than we all ever wanted to dream of. This heartbreaking tragedy is one we will never forget. Everyone in Israel cried with the families who were very well known and admired by the Israeli public.
Finally, Udi was put to bury in Israel near his beloved family.
Udi, we will eternalize you forever.
